Surf Life Saving brings with it a fantastic opportunity for all members to compete at local, national and international Surf Life Saving events. We have a team that competes at the Surf Life Saving Nationals every year.

Surf Sports forms a significant component of the Surf Life Saving Movement. Competition improves a surf lifesaver's lifesaving skills. Disciplines include Beach, IRB (inflatable rescue boat), Water, Surf Boat and Life Saving events and suits anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.

People wishing to compete must be trained, refreshed and active lifeguards and be proficient at the time of competition. It is mandatory that all competitors complete a minimum number of patrolling hours within the season.

Surf Boat Rowing

Titahi Bay has a proud history of Surf Boat rowing, winning the National Open Boat Title more than any other club and also representing NZ on numerous occasions over a number of decades. Titahi Bay were the holders of the the New Zealand Surf Boat Club of the Year trophy from 2016 - 2019. This is awarded based on the amount of points accumulated by all surf boat crews over the course of the annual New Zealand Surf Life Saving Championships.

New Zealand Surf Boat Representatives:

2023 - Titahi Bay had two crews selected for the New Zealand 'Oar Blacks' team who competed at the Trans-Tasman Challenge at Waihi Beach.
