Joint Fundraiser for Kris Blenkiron
Posted by Administrator on Wednesday, 28 May 2014In February this year Titahi
Bay resident Kris Blenkiron was seriously injured in an accident at
Titahi Bay beach while kite surfing. He collided with a boat and
suffered horrific injuries to both of his legs. Surgeons managed to
reattach his legs but Kris faces months, perhaps years of
rehabilitation and recovery.
The Titahi Bay Surf Lifesaving Club and the NZ Parliamentary
Rugby Team are combining forces to host a fundraiser to support
Kris and his young family. The Parliamentary Rugby Team will play a
rugby game against a selection team from the Titahi Bay Surf
Lifesaving Club.
The game will be held on June 14th 2.30pm at Onepoto Park with
the after-match being held at Titahi Bay Surf Club. Tickets for the
after-match function are available by emailing nippers@titahibayslsc.org.nz.
Kris and his wife had only recently returned to New Zealand to
start their family. At the time of the accident Kris was seeking
work, but had not been working and as a result is unable to get the
assistance of ACC, and having come back to New Zealand with savings
towards a house deposit, WINZ are unable to assist. All proceeds
from this fundraiser will go directly to Kris and his family to
help him with his recovery and rehabilitation.
We hope to make it a fun and very successful day. There will
be sausage sizzles, half time entertainment, raffles and auctions.
Please come along and show your support.
